Tasks started Fall/Spring 2002-2003
Accomplished
Joanna, Punit, Guillermo and I will try to eestablish a MISM Student Assembly at least once a semester. It is very important for the program to create a common awareness of the MISM students of the issues and problems we are facing. This meeting should provide a chance to bring up these issues and discuss with all students. done at least once every semester
We want to bring faculty and students together. Sonal, Joanna, Punit, Guillermo and I will try to set up faculty lunchs, where we invite members of the faculty to come to the 3rd floor student lounge and mingle with MISM students. done in Spring 2003, trying to repeat in fall
Save a tree!! I am strongly interested in reducing the waste of energy at HBH. This includes but is not limited to not printing class notes (and if, 6-slides on one page and double-sided), printing everything double-sided, taking waste paper as scratch paper, turning off lights when I leave in the evening, turning off the AC if nobody is in the room.... failed, no interest from students' and administration's side
Make life a little easier for MISM students in introducing simple principles of time management. Get your schedule together as early as possible in the semester, put all of your meetings, homeworks, assignment, tests, vacation trips, lectures, leisure activities into a calendar tool (I personally use Outlook, but there is Corporate Time, Yahoo! Calendar...). Additionally, not each assignment contributes equally to your learning (and to your grade), use the 80/20 rule (use 20% of your time to solve 80% of the issues, the rest is peanuts) and most important: PRIORITIZE!!!!! and that includes having social events and leisure activities as a very important part of your well-being!!!! failed
I am always interested in increasing the marketability of the MISM program. First, I want to make an impact on this year's recruiting and second, I want to make a long-term impact on the value of the MISM program and the opportunities students will gain from attending it. multiple efforts, but most failed, marketing video and CD-ROM should show up in fall
This is more than just grades and academic learning. I already have made a lot of new friends and I hope that by the end of this semester I know the majority of the students. I am up for any party, movie, luncheon, sport, hang-out.... I just say PDC

Tasks started Fall 2003

The MISM program has grown out of the demand for IT professionals and for providing people in the industry with a 1 year brush up course in cutting edge technology and management practices. Looking at the changes in the economiy and the IT industry in particular, this premise doesn't hold anymore. I and Punit have been pushing for a strategy reevaluation of the program by the administration in cooperation with the student representatives.
started (first meeting with MISM Committee members at the end of September 2003)
